Stories of Life

In Mark Twain's words: as much as reading is the cure for ignorance, travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.

On many of my wilderness travel adventures I learn as much about the natural history of my destination as about its cultural history. Spending time with local guides and communities often adds eye-opening experiences and supports my effort to keep an open mind regarding the sometimes harsh realities and perspectives of life on earth in current times. Jointly navigating wilderness adventures often forges new friendships based on mutual trust in the face of adverse and potentially dangerous situations.

While my photographic focus remains on wilderness and wildlife, I highly appreciate every opportunity to learn about foreign cultures, and the people whose lives are affected by living in and around the wilderness areas I visit. Especially the challenges and dangers that come with having to interact with large predators in daily life.
